Math-Bridge Search Widget
Math-Bridge is the the first Pan-European e-Learning platform for online bridging courses in mathematics. It allows teachers and students to interact with thousands of mathematical learning objects available in seven languages.
The Math-Bridge Search Widget helps users to find learning objects they are interested in by allowing the specification of various search criteria to query the official Math-Bridge service repository. The Widget will have two tabs: "Search" and "View".
The search tab will be used to formulate search queries and display results. The user can input a search string in a text field and run the search, which will use the Math-Bridge service to retrieve the results. In order to obtain better results, the search can be broadened or narrowed by advanced search operations.
To constrain results, the user can place restrictions on learning object metadata, for instance on the type of learning object (e.g. example), the difficulty (e.g. easy) or the language the object is available in. On the other hand, the user can broaden the results by including phonetically similar results or allowing partial matches.
The result list contains the titles of the learning objects that were found. When the user selects an entry in the list, it is loaded from the Math-Bridge service and displayed in the "View" tab. At the top of the view tab, a drop-down list indicated the languages in which the learning object is available, the current language is selected. The user can select another language to view the learning object in this language.
The widget will publish ROLE events. The "used" event will certainly be of interest there, but which events exactly the Math-Bridge Search Widget will be publishing will be decided before implementation, hopefully with some feedback from the ROLE team.
